Wallace Family Christmas~2010

On Saturday we got together to celebrate the Wallace family Christmas!

At least this year we didn't have a foot of snow on the ground and Uncle Steve and Aunt Amy were able to come join us. Great G&G Wallace were also able to come and Reagan got some much anticipated cousin time in as well!

It was the perfect day of feasting (who needs a meal when you can eat a jar full of chocolate-covered almonds in one day?!), lots of game playing and Christmas movies on TV. The perfect way to spend the holidays!

Cousin time!

"Check out my new blocks Evie."

New walker toy? Nope, new 'knee-it' toy. :)

"Watcha got Daddy?"

"Dora PJ's! My favorite!"

"I can do it."

"Just what I've always wanted!"

"Whew! Opening presents is tiring. I'm ready for a nap!"

Thanks to all for the gifts, the love and the laughter! xo

*out of order*

So y'all know I'm technology challenged. I've surprised even myself that I can keep this blog flowing along without any major catastrophes to the actual computer itself.

Well this week, Andy needed the thingamajig that goes in the camera that holds the pictures. I'm thinking the word I'm looking for is 'memory card' but don't quote me on that. Anyway, the camera has been out of order all week. Obviously I would stun the masses if I figured out how to drive to the store, pick out a new memory card and load it into the camera. So in layman's terms: no pictures of peanut this week.

Instead, in lieu of Christmas, I will leave you with this very creative nativity scene made completely out of pork. And y'all know how much I love me some pork. And no, I can't take the credit for making this. That would indicate that I actually have 'free' time.

Merry Christmas!

Grampa's Lil Helper

1- 23 cent bolt + a visit from Grampa K. + Reagan supervising = a fixed recliner!

"Okay Grampa, what's the situation?"

"Yep, yep I see the problem."

"Okay, I think I got it..."

"Let me just get in here real quick..."

"Gramma, the chair is fixed!"
Now all she needs is a pink tool belt! :)

Strive.

I've been hearing about this book for awhile, 'The Help.' And let's face it, who has time to read with a toddler?

I thought my free time, time to read, was over. I was number 131 on the library reserve list- months went by and I had forgotten all about the book. And then the email came, saying it was ready for pick up. And despite my crazy schedule, I found the time to begin reading...

You know that famous line in the movie 'As Good As It Gets' when Jack Nicholson looks at Helen Hunt and says, "You make me want to BE a better man."

That is exactly how I felt only one chapter into 'The Help.' At first I thought, "Ms. Stockett makes me want to BE a better writer." The voice of an African-American maid in the 1960's written by a white author is nothing short of genius. I am there. I feel the fear, the oppression and you know what? It not only made me want to strive to be a better writer, but a better person.

If you do not read or don't think you have time to read... this book will be worth the time, those stolen 10 minutes here or 10 minutes there.. and I guarantee 'The Help' will make you want to strive to do better, be better.

And always, always remember the Golden Rule: Treat unto others as you yourself would like to be treated.

And for that, I thank Ms. Stockett.

"No boys allowed"

Reagan has discovered a new clubhouse. *ignore my mess in the cabinets*

She loves to knee walk her way over to the cabinets, open up the doors and check things out. Last night she promptly climbed in and settled down with a book and her sippy. I guess she's claiming her new clubhouse. Now all she needs is a 'no boys allowed!' sign. :)
