Busy Summer Days

We've been busy lately. Fun busy... but looking forward to some downtime over the upcoming holiday weekend.

Thursday:

Rea finished Vacation Bible School. Oh how she loved it so! They gave each child a CD with the songs so naturally that music has taken over our car rides lately. And has been stuck in my head all day, every day...

Doing the actions to the 'high five' song.
Rea: "Mommy it's the bestest song in the whole world."

Group shot (Rea is in the lower right corner wearing the teal Hello Kitty tee):

She loved the castle:

Friday night:

Play date with Rea's dear friend, Ellie. They swam, played on the swing set, had a carpet picnic and watched movies. Fun times!

Saturday:

Big thanks to G&G W. for watching the kiddos while us adults checked out the new movie, World War Z. Note to self: Do not consume 2 cups of coffee before an intense zombie movie. The two just don't mix.

But it was a great movie and the cousins had fun playing while we were gone. Good times!

I love this pic- the 3 amigos exploring the back yard...

I see piano lessons in our future...

Sunday:

Dance day! A local park hosts 'Music in the park' and Rea's dance co. was asked to perform Sunday night. The weather was perfect for it and Rea loved being onstage once again!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Weekend Recap

For the second time this summer, our plans to see the Icubs play were thwarted. Peanut got the stomach bug.

I'll spare you the gory details because nothing is decent when you're up with a sick toddler from 2 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. And I hate it when she's sick!  I feel so helpless. So we hunkered down Friday and read books, watched movies, and dined on pedialyte and Popsicles.

Finally, Rea got her groove back.  I could tell she was going stir crazy when she started running circles in the family room and ate a breakfast fit for an athlete in training. So we headed to her happy place- the car dealership (I had a scheduled oil change).  Who can resist fun toys and donuts?

I wanted to keep Rea out of the heat so we headed to the theater to see her much anticipated movie- Monsters University. Very cute movie, lots of laughs!

Saturday night we headed to our good friends to celebrate Todd's birthday. They have a fun aspect that Rea loved- a trampoline! She would have jumped all night had we let her and promptly exclaimed, "Can I get one for my birthday?"  We're going to have to think on that request... all I see is the possibility of broken bones.

Happy birthday top shelf Toddy!

Sunday started Vacation Bible School! Honestly, I had my reservations. She is one of the youngest so I wasn't sure how she would do for the 2 and a half hour time span. I should know better by now than to doubt my lil social butterfly. She was so excited and had so much fun!  She couldn't wait to tell me everything they had done and all that she had learned. Such a great experience for her!

She showed me her necklace and said, "Mommy you need to download this app on your Iphone." Um...okay someone must have given her that line. :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Fun in the Sun

We had grand plans to check out Adventure Bay this week, that is...until I got rear-ended on my way to pick up Reagan after work.  Very scary indeed but at least it wasn't my fault, the other party had insurance, and no one was hurt.  Thankful things didn't turn out worse.

So... we switched nights and enjoyed the sun, water and a few rides during a quiet week night at Adventureland. One of the things I love about having a pass, that I've probably said before, we don't have to do everything at one time.  We swam first and Reagan loved being back at Adventure Bay... then checked out a few kiddie rides, picked up some mini donuts, and called it a night.

The carousel is a must~

Beautiful night! And the geese had babies- so cute!

Welcoming Summer

It reached 85 degrees yesterday, possibly hotter, but I was too hot to check, which is usually the temperature at which I crank the air and turn on the ceiling fans and hunker down inside.  Summer not being my friend, obviously.

Rea had other plans. She talked me into pulling out her kiddie pool. We filled it to the brim and she loved it! Despite the cold cold cold hose water... fun times!

Her new favorite fruit of choice is the nectarine.  We've had some tears lately because I cannot for the life of me find cuties (clementines) and oranges just won't do so when I first suggested nectarines at the store she wrinkled her nose and shrugged her shoulders.  3 nectarines later, I think it's safe to say she approves.

It just hit me that she's over the 3 and a half year mark, well on her way to magic number 4... time flies when you're having fun!  She is full of one-liners and loves to turn everything into a song...whether it's brushing her teeth, taking a bath, eating a meal, it will eventually turn into a song including rhymes. Oh how she loves to rhyme right now. Very charming on her 3 and a half year old self.

Toddler quotes:

Rea: "Mommy, where does Jesus live?"
Me: "Jesus lives in Heaven."
Rea: "No He doesn't. He lives in the ground so he can pet our feet when we walk."

***************

Rea splashing water on my feet:  "Mommy I'm doing this to get rid of your wrinkles. You have a lot of them."

***************

Her new tag line- 'Who cares anyway...'

Me: "Rea please put your dirty clothes in your hamper."
Rea: "Who cares anyway?"

Me: "Rea please don't pick your nose, go get a Kleenex."
Rea: "Who cares anyway?"

And so then I have to gently remind her the importance of being tidy and clean hygiene, and then she asks what is being tidy and what does hygiene mean and where does soap come from and can she suck the toothpaste right out of the tube and what happens if the ants in our kitchen can't find their way to their house (traps) and before you know it, it's turned into another version of an If You Give a Pig a Party book. "If you try to teach your toddler manners, she'll want a story to go with it." :)

Getting down to work...
