She conquered the hill.

Anyone who knows Rea knows she is what we affectionately refer to as strong willed, independent, unable to be persuaded, which I know are effective traits to have.

She's been watching her friends all spring conquer the hill in front of our house using the purple balance car...always running behind but never wanting to conquer the ride herself.  My gentle prompting...You can ride on the car too!... didn't do much to persuade.

Tonight, when we weren't looking and least expecting it, she flew down the hill!  And then she did it again and again and again...

I love seeing her take on new challenges and conquer little baby steps, like the big slide at the park or saying a shy hi to a friend she sees at the store.

I want her to know that fears are okay but conquering those fears can be so freeing.  Just like riding down a hill.

And that's how you have a fun weekend!

Friday Night:

Family fun night at Reagan's school- We tried a new theme this year, Bingo! It was a hit and we had a great turnout!

Always fun to meet the parent's of Rea's school friends. She of course wasn't as interested in the bingo as she was hanging with her friends, enjoying face painting and balloon animals.

Much success!!

Afterwards we headed to our friends so the girls could play.

This is not what you want to hear as a parent at 10 p.m.
Ava:  We ate ALL the candy.
Reagan:  Yeah. And we have LOTS of energy!!

Saturday:

Despite the rain and the wind we managed to have fun grilling out...

Frosting container- good til the last drop!

Sunday Funday!

Opening weekend at Adventureland- we couldn't miss it! So happy to see the sun... still chilly but we had so much fun we didn't notice.

Bumper cars! Rea still isn't tall enough to drive but she loves to ride!

Her new favorite: G Force!

After the kiddie rides she said, "Mom the kiddie rides are boring. What's the Dragon?"  Thankfully she isn't tall enough for that monster!

She is finally tall enough, however, to ride the teacups by herself.

Tradition: We always end with a train ride...

Backyard adventures:
Hours of outside play with the neighbor kiddos topped off our Sunday.

And that's how you have a fun (and tiring!) weekend! Hope everyone had a great one!

Weekend Fun

A birthday is always the perfect excuse to plan a girl's trip... this time we were celebrating my dear friend Annette's birthday and we decided to road trip to Kansas City!

Always fun to be had in KC, we enjoyed a wonderful hotel stay complete with balconies off our rooms and special access to the Ambassador room (I didn't even know those existed), lots of wine tasting, shopping, dining and of course a massage!

Happy birthday to my bestie!

Enjoying the views....

Birthday girl!

Champagne toast!

Exploring the Plaza...

Wine and dining!

Exploring Westport...

Another great trip with so many good memories...

And thanks to Daddy for holding down the fort at home.  He and Reagan had fun at Prek Science Night and Rea had lots of fun at a classmate's birthday party!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sleepover Fun

Reagan hosted her bestie Karly for an overnight on Saturday. Oh the fun they had.... I kept checking in on them but they were deep in child's play...makeup, dolls, dress up, playing outside.  So cute to eavesdrop on their conversations.

Some perspective:

A picnic at the park...

Wouldn't be a sleepover without Menchie's!

After bedtime stories and ghost stories by flashlights, the girls were ready for sleep.  Another successful sleepover!

Easter 2015

We were blessed with the perfect Easter day this year.  The weather was beautiful and it was so much fun to spend the day with family and friends.

Reagan woke up earlier than usual as she was so excited to see what the Easter Bunny had delivered. "Mommy and Daddy...there's a candy trail!"

Taking it all in...(this Easter basket courtesy of Target Dollar spot and Dollar Tree).

Butterfly slippers!

The kiddos had so much fun with their Easter egg hunt!  Thanks again Aunt Nette!

Opening Easter baskets from G&G W. Thank you both!!  Reagan was delighted to get a fishing pole...now she can go fishin with Papa!

We surprised Rea at the end of the day with her very own iPod. She has been asking for one for awhile and I happened to get an amazing deal on one.  She was so excited!

Sporting her ear buds...

So thankful for another great Easter!  Hope you all had a wonderful Easter as well!
