Anniversary Trip

Every May, Andy and I head to Kansas City to celebrate our anniversary.

It's just far enough to feel like a vacation, yet not too far for a quick 3-day trip.  Andy does a little work during the day, meeting clients, while I enjoy the shopping, manicure/pedicure primping and pool lounge time.  And we always close out the trip visiting a Royals game.  I go for the cotton candy, Andy goes for the baseball. It's a win-win situation.

A big thanks to G&G Wallace for taking care of Reagan while we were gone. A busy toddler on the go is a big task!  And Rea had so much fun, she barely knew we were gone. There may have been a few tears the first night but nothing a cookie break couldn't fix, right Papa?  :)

Note to self: Always order Rosati's Pizza when in KC. It never disappoints!

Another food shot- Fred P. Otts. I will never eat a regular burger again without a fried egg on top. Love!

The pool was glorious aka heated and we had it all to ourselves...

At the game, tailgating.

Amazing seats! 4 rows back from home plate-
Ross- this picture is for you. Note the ex-Cardinal.

The fireworks were amazing! Perfect end to a great anniversary trip!

Certificate of Completion~ Part 2

Rea had her last wee ball game of the season last week.

BIG thanks to Aunt Nette for taking her while Andy and I were out of town. And more thanks to her for providing treats to all the kiddos! Rea had so much fun and is still talking about her night with Aunt Nette.

She received a medal and is very proud of it. She really enjoyed wee ball this year and did well with it. We will definitely sign up again next year.

Enhancements

Last weekend my parents came down for a visit and while they were here, they helped us add some enhancements to Reagan's play set.

Hanging bars:

Hammock:

I was also on the hunt for a motorized car that Rea could tool around the block with since all of the other neighbor kids have one. There is nothing like seeing a toddler motorcade going down the sidewalk to make your heart melt...The problem was, I didn't want the price tag of a brand new car.

This is where a random act of kindness comes in... just the week before, there was a Grandma on FB looking for a turtle sandbox, which we just happened to have one looking for a good home. We gave it away happily, knowing it would be put to good use.  Then I put out a search on FB looking for a car and someone responded they had a pink Jeep they were willing to give away- win-win! Love good Karma.

So $35 later for a new battery and we have one happy toddler!

Now if only the rain would go away and the sun would come out, we could enjoy our enhancements!

Mother's Day 2013

My 5th year celebrating life as a mom. How different this one feels than when I was pregnant in May 2009. So worried, hoping my little peanut was growing right on target and praying every day for a healthy and happy baby. So blessed to have both!

This mother's day was the absolutely perfect day. No big plans... just our little family of 3. The morning brought snuggles and cartoons, the afternoon brought a quick trip to Adventureland and playing with the neighbors, the night brought Andy spoiling me with a delicious supper!

I'm so thankful for the opportunity to be a mom. I learned from the best, Andy learned from the best and together, we love, nurture and teach Rea the lessons, manners, and love that we were taught.

Happy Mother's Day!

Movin' On Up

Andy has always been one of my biggest cheerleaders... When I have doubts, he affirms me. When I'm down, he lifts me up. When I'm pouty, grouchy, and cry for no good reason, he can always make me laugh. Always.

So it only seemed fitting that I return the favor. I am so proud of my husband- he took the classes, studied hard, passed the tests and successfully achieved his LUTCF designation and was admitted into the manager boot camp 9 month program at work. He prepared, interviewed like a rock star and is working his way up. I couldn't be happier for him!

At the same time, our dear friend Davy graduated so it was the perfect opportunity for a double surprise party! Annette and I hosted the shindig on Saturday night and everything went off without a hitch! The guys were surprised and we had the best time celebrating with all our friends. A huge thank you to all for helping us celebrate our guys!

As an added side bonus, the bar had a band and Andy got to play a song (drums) with them- definitely something to check off his bucket list! He rocked it!

Certificate of Completion

Wednesday night was Reagan's last dance class of the 2012-2013 season.

I love seeing the progress that she's made- from being shy on the sidelines to running into class yelling 'hi!' to her new friends. She usually asks me a couple times a week, 'Do I have dance tonight mommy?'

During the last class the teacher presented each student with a pin and a certificate. Rea was so proud! Each girl took a bow and enjoyed applause.  She will have a couple dance events throughout the summer- Music in the Park and the Iowa State Fair. Fun times I'm sure!

Here's to a great dance season and many more to come!
