A lot can happen...

In 7 months. Especially the growing of a lil peanut!

Reagan is 7 months today! We are so thankful for her beautiful blessing and how much she teaches us about pure love each and every day.

30 Weeks and growing...

Today, baby girl is 30 weeks and growing!

And yes, you guessed it- growing another double ear infection. Here's my stock tip for the day: buy stock in baby antibiotics. You'll make millions.

So yes- it wouldn't be a week without another ear infection now, would it? She gets one more strike and we're sent to the ENT for possible tubes. But you know, if something can take her pain away, her teeny tiny baby cries that just break your heart, her lil lip quivers and big blue eyes filled with tears because gosh darn it, her ears hurt! It's worth it. I'll do anything.

So here we are, 2 days away from 7 months. I can't believe how fast time has gone by! Still no teeth- just lil nubs. However she has happily adapted to purees and still 'wuvs' her bottle.

Here are some pics from the week:

Meeting up with Gramma K. to have some girl time and shopping therapy in Williamsburg!
Twinkle toes playin in her exersaucer (aka 'poop chair') TMI? Sorry!

Right before ear pain strikes:

"Please mama don't fill this big ol high chair tray with baby food."

Trying Mum-Mum's for the first time. Okay okay...I wouldn't like to eat a rice rusk either.

Feeling like a big girl in her new purple tennies!

Until next week! xo

A Mother's Love

In honor of my friend, who lost her dear baby boy yesterday morning after labor. Rest in peace baby James.

A Mother's love is something that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendoured miracle man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence of God's tender guiding hand.

Please say a prayer for my friend, her family and her little angel. xo

29 Weeks and growing...

Today, Reagan is 29 weeks and growing!

Unfortunately, another week of sickness. Friday brought on a two hour Dr. appt. with peanut being diagnosed with a UTI and possible kidney infection after multiple tests. Fortunately, further testing ruled out any problems with her kidneys but the weekend was rough. She spiked a high fever Saturday night and just wasn't her normal, happy self.

Yesterday was her follow up Dr. appt. and since she didn't have a fever and was on antibiotics, they decided to do her 6 month shots...only 3 weeks late. That shows how sick she's been lately!

We are praying for a speedy recovery and hoping for our happy little joy-joy back! We are learning to function on 3 hours of sleep but it's not for the weary. Amidst her tears, we didn't get the camera out much this past week so here's hoping to a better week this week!

Just a couple pics:

Hangin in the living room- and yes, that is dust on my coffee table. Martha Stewart would give me 50 lashes with a wet noodle.
A common pose from last week- not quite sure what we'll do when she outgrows her pappsasn chair. Her legs already hang off the end- ideas??
Until next week! xo

Just a spoonful of Dora...

Helps the medicine go down...medicine go down...medicine go down!

Okay, I know I know... experts agree no child shall watch TV before 2 years of age. Well I would like 'said expert' to come to my house twice a day then to administer my child's medication.

She's 6 and 1/2 months but who are we kidding? When that medicine dropper comes out, she's on to us! She knows something is going to be put in her mouth and she is NOT going to like it. And after 4 bottles of antibiotics, numerous bottles of Tylenol and Motrin, how can I blame her? I wouldn't like it either.

So what do we do? We turn on Dora. Dora, whom my child LOVES. I can recite the backpack and map song verbatim. If you want to hear them sung off-key, just ask me.

So the experts can judge all they want but in the meantime, it's time for Reagan's meds. And Dora is on the DVR.

28 Weeks and growing...

Today, Peanut is 28 weeks and growing!

This week brings... peanut's smile back, her ticklish giggle, her happy coo's... yes, Reagan is fully recovered and med free!

She had her 6 month appt. yesterday and is weighing in at 18 lbs 13 oz and is 27.1 inches in length. The Dr. was very impressed with her ability to sit up unassisted but was not impressed to hear about her distaste for baby food.

So... this leads to cutting down an ounce of formula at every feeding and hoping to increase her baby/table food by another meal per day. We also have to work on the sippy cup as she regards it as her new arch nemesis. What can I say, my baby loves her bottle!

The Dr. also saw some fluid in her ears so we'll monitor those when she goes back next week for her 6 month shots. If it does turn into an ear infection, we'll be referred to an ENT. Let's hope it goes away on its own!

Here are some pics from the week:

Trying out a new mesh feeder- I'm trying to be creative! But it's not working. She's on to me.

"Hmmm...I thought this was a toy."
"You're busted mom. I know there's a banana in here."

Catches a glimpse of her bottle...

Until next week! xo

Weekend Recap

What a crazy busy weekend! The first part of May always brings Andy's birthday, our anniversary and Mother's Day!

Friday night:

We headed to Rube's Steakhouse in Waukee for Andy's annual birthday celebration. Who doesn't love a thick slab of meat on the grill with a full salad bar, potatoes and baked beans? We gorged ourselves and had a blast eating our weight in Texas toast laden with liquid butter. Yes, you heard me: Liquid. Butter.

Happy birthday baby!

Saturday night:
We had our families over to celebrate Andy's birthday. It was a great night of laughing and playing with the kiddos and eating pizza and cake. Good thing Reagan was fully recovered so she could play with her cousins!

Mother's Day 2010:
My first mother's day! Andy and peanut surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of roses and sweet cards that made me cry. I'm so blessed to have such an amazing husband and baby girl to love and cherish!
We spent the day lounging at Steve and Alyce's. Reagan was enamored by her cousins while I again, stuffed my face with grilled hot dogs, chips and dip and none other than lemon pound cake. Hmmm...Weight Watcher's is just a faded memory at this point. Isn't it??

A great weekend! Happy Mother's day! xo

27 Weeks and growing...

On Tuesday, peanut was 27 weeks and growing...

Unfortunately, this week Reagan experienced her first trip to the ER. Not something we ever want to experience again! The weekend started off harmless enough with a trip up North to help celebrate Reagan's great-grandma's 87th birthday! She got to spend time with her cousins, which she always loves to do!

On Sunday, she spiked a fever and was uncharacteristically fussy all day. By 6 p.m. that night, when the thermometer read 105 degrees, it was time to seek medical help. We loaded up the car and hightailed it to the ER, where Reagan was diagnosed with 'hand/foot/mouth' disease. The rest of the week is a blur of Tylenol, Motrin, Orajel, Maalox and anything else that would help ease the pain for peanut.

I think there is improvement today- she is smiling and playing with no fever in sight! We're going on 3 hours of sleep a night but it's worth it if we can get baby girl back to her usual happy self!

Here are a couple pics from the weekend:

Thanks for all the prayers this week! xo
