Exploring the zoo!

The Blank Park Zoo hosted a S.T.E.A.M. (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) night at the zoo.  It was free admission and a great opportunity for us to explore the zoo on a week night!

Reagan got to build with marshmallows and spaghetti, got her finger prints taken, and then had fun with the usual suspects... the train ride, feeding the birds, sitting in the hatched egg, playing on the playground, checking out the Rhino, and *I think* her first time to walk across the rope bridge on her own!

We spent 2 hours exploring and laughing... fun times!

There was animal poo in the next egg...hence her "it stinks!" face.

She'll take any chance she can get to play in water. :)

The bird hooked its claw on Rea's finger and she said it tickled.

Train ride is a must...

Little uncomfortable how close the rhino got to us... but that is why that teeny tiny wooden fence is there, right?

Doing finger prints and writing her name...

Our first (and probably last) time through the gift shop...lately, she has a snake obsession and can't go without a wooden snake she got for Christmas from G&G K. so she just had to have a 'mommy' snake for it.

Family Vacation 2014

Since our daycare provider was on vacation, we decided to take advantage of our day off and head to Dubuque for a quick family vacation.  We stayed at the Grand Harbor Resort and enjoyed the family package, admitting us into the National River Museum and Aquarium

Reagan was so excited to go on vacation and had her suitcase packed nights ahead of time.  We couldn't of had a better time!  The weather was great, my directions were spot-on and we timed our trips to the museum and water park in between the buses of kiddos.

The museum has a cute little area that reminded me of the science center here in town where Rea got to pick a sail boat and explore the water, we tasted the infamous Falbo Bro's pizza (delicious!) and spent hours swimming at the water park. She brought her goggles and dive rings with her and loved going down the water slides with daddy.

I did attempt the big tube slide with Rea and screamed all the way down! Much to the lifeguard's amusement... We had fun at the arcade and Reagan loved pushing the elevator buttons! Such a simple thing that gave her the biggest smile.

On the way home we decided to check out the Crystal Lake Cave. We got there just in time for a tour to start. A neat experience but only if you aren't claustrophobic!  Quite scary but we hid our fears since Reagan was loving it... "Mommy and Daddy, this is amazing!"

A very successful family vacation...can't wait to plan our next one!

If you go with kids, definitely worth getting the 2-room suite.

So excited to be on vacation!

My favorite pic...family snuggle time before bed...

Hard hat on...ready for the tour!

This one is blurry but I love it- she was so inquisitive....

I love making these family memories for Rea....and us. Here's to many more family vacations to come!
