Is it Summer? No, it's the Midwest.

We enjoyed a summer temp tease last weekend and broke out the hose and sprinkler. Reagan had a blast washing her car and bike.

And then the sun vanished and the rain came... as did the cool temps. Come on summer!

Lately...

Lately...

Rea has been begging to go to the gym with me. I relented and she had fun checking out the kid machines.

We enjoyed a fun trip to the nature center with her girl scout troop!  My first time; Reagan has been there before. Very neat to see the buffalo!

Reagan has been practicing her fluency reading...

We are getting close to recital time!  Now is when Reagan likes going to dance...the costumes are in and they work more on their specific routine.

Hat day!  Reagan was able to donate money to wear a hat to school.  The proceeds went to support military family to come eat lunch with their children.  Reagan said someone in the army who flew airplanes ate lunch with them- very exciting!

And the highlight of Rea's week- seeing Annie!  Her Aunt Nette took her and she had the best time- she is still singing the songs and we have the CD on repeat in the car. Thank you again Aunt Nette!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for the fact that my child does not know poverty.

I'm thankful that I can help donate to end poverty among children.

I'm thankful that there are companies that support the mission to end child poverty.

It was a teachable moment for Reagan yesterday when we ended up at Walgreen's  The cashier asked if I wanted to purchase a red nose. Rea was ecstatic to get a treat and she heard the cashier say, thank you for donating to charity.  So of course as soon as we left the store, Rea asked, 'what is donating to charity mean?'

So we had a big 'ol discussion about children who live in poverty and how we can help.  I googled it and we looked at pictures and I think it resonated with her that it's important to think of others and always look for ways to help.  She even asked if she could take her red nose to school to teach the other kids about how they can help.

I'm feeling very thankful today.

Firsts

Reagan got to experience her first trip to the botanical center when she toured it with her Girl Scout troop last weekend.  They did a great job with the girls and the girls learned so much about flowers and plants.  They even got to dissect a flower! Very cool!

Another one bites the dust...

Reagan's 2nd tooth lost!

Sunday morning I surprised us both and plucked it out with a Kleenex.  No tears!

The morning after...you can barely see the gap since her big teeth are already in.

Neighborhood Discovery

We found the cutest lil library in our neighborhood on a family walk this week... Reagan picked out a book on Dinosaurs.  She is anxious to donate some of her books too!  I love our neighborhood!
