Last week, SE Polk celebrated their homecoming. This brought an opportunity for Rea to experience a couple firsts... first parade and first football game. She loved them both! Bonus points that one involved candy and the other involved popcorn.
Rea's first parade:
Her 'one-finger' wave:
Once she figured out that people love to give toddlers candy, she worked that bag like her life depended on it. But in true peanut fashion, she only wanted the suckers.
Guarding her bag of riches....
We had fun celebrating a win at the homecoming game- Rea loved watching the cheerleaders. Her rendition of a cheer:
And the best part of all this, we left for vacation the very next day! Vacation pics to come...
Joys and tribulations, rants and rambles, insights and embarrassing moments...Taking in all of life and what it has to offer!

Sunday Funday
We spent Sunday up north at a family reunion. It was great to catch up with relatives we hadn't seen in awhile (too long!) and for some, it was their first time meeting Rea! We definitely need to get together more often.
I had such a great time I forgot to pull out my camera until the very end- just to snap a couple pics of Rea on roller blades. She loved it! Even more, she loved seeing her cousins!
Happy Sunday funday!

Football Saturday
We needed the Hawkeyes to rally this week after a disappointing loss against our biggest rival last week. We donned our gear, made some great tailgating food and planned to cheer really loud for our team!
Once we knew the Hawks were gonna pull out a win, we headed outside to enjoy the perfect weather!
Happy football Saturday!

Road Trip
The onset of the Iowa versus Iowa State game always brings a road trip north. Daddy needs guy time and the chance to watch the game uninterrupted. During this year's loss game, maybe an interruption would have been nice....
Peanut and I had a great time hanging with family! Peanut was able to see her cousins, Aunt's, Uncle's, Great-Grandma, G&G K. and Precious. It was fun to kick back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful weather! Fall is just around the corner my friends!
A few pics:
Getting ready to feed the bunny:
Even with a carrot in hand, the bunny could smell 'toddler':
Dinosaurs. The new My Lil Pony.
Helmets! They didn't care that they weren't going to ride any bikes...
Pool time!
Story time!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Maxine *toddler version*
I snapped this pic of Rea the other day and I immediately thought of Maxine, the grouchy-chain smoking-coffee drinking-OLD lady.
Tell me you see the resemblance... or I'll just sit here and feel like a bad mom for thinking my toddler is reminiscent of a crabby cartoon character.

Last Hurrah
We had grand plans to finish out the summer season with a final trip to the water park yesterday...mother nature had other plans. We decided to brave the sprinkle and do the rides instead. Rea had a blast and I got to enjoy my last mini donut fix for the year.
I'm saying good riddance to summer and an ecstatic HELLO to fall!
