Subtle Changes

Okay so I got really tired of our carpet in the family room looking like we owned 3 dogs, 2 cats and a hamster.  Seriously- where do all those mysterious stains come from?  We don't have pets, we never eat in the family room... yet here come those pesky spots that won't go away with an entire bottle of Resolve. 

So to keep my sanity and stay within budget (new carpet was not in the budget) I found a nice rug and cute throw pillows on clearance this week.  I am pleased with the final outcome and even though new leather furniture would make this outcome SO much more desirable, that is definitely not in the budget.  But still on my wish list.

Memorial Day Weekend 2012

Memorial day weekend 2012~

Funny to think how much I was looking forward to this weekend only to have it go by in a flash!  We enjoyed a fun-filled weekend with family and friends. I hope all of you did too!

Saturday:

Rea and I met Nette at Grey's lake and did a lap...it was scorching hot so we decided to cool off with lunch at Palmer's Deli.  I forgot how amazing their cookies are, and promptly tried 3 different kinds. Molasses wins out every time.  The walk is now a moot point.

Saturday night Andy and I had a planned date night with our good friends, Jen and Burt. The plan was to go see Hairball. Not my choice of music but a really great time nonetheless.  Despite the heat (I swore I would never do another outside concert again), it was a neat experience to watch a concert under the stars.   I even ran into an old friend from high school and was able to catch up. Good times!

Sunday: 93 degrees definitely warranted saying *oh well* to a high water bill and we filled up 2 pools. I can't believe I forgot to snap a pic! I think it was my subconscious saying no way Jose to a pic of me in a swim suit.  Next time, I'll try for a pic of Rea.  She squealed the whole time and loved the water.  We hosted dinner for Andy's family and had a great time relaxing.

We are so blessed to have such great family and friends to spend the holiday weekend with.  Remembering those who couldn't be with us and thankful for those who are.  Hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday!

Celebrating 5

5 incredible years since we both declared "I do"... through the up's (welcoming peanut!) and the down's (trying to conceive peanut!) we've been together through it all, side by side, laughing and joking along the way. I'm so lucky to have this journey... with my soul mate.

We celebrated in Kansas City this year- a place we both love to visit.  Even though we both missed peanut, (special thanks to G&G W. for babysitting!) it was the perfect little getaway for us and we, of course, had a blast!

Mother's Day 2012

My mother's day started a little early this year... with an amazing surprise from Andy and Rea!

It's a well known fact that I was still using the flip phone, aka (NOT) smart phone, and was longing for an IPhone to call my very own.  Andy couldn't wait until today and had Rea give it to me last Tuesday, while she said in her sweet toddler voice, "Happy Mother's day mommy!"

Mother's day 2012 was a wonderful day. We celebrated with both families and enjoyed an amazing brunch and gorgeous weather.  Thanks to Scott and B for hosting! 

Wishing all the mama's out there a morning to sleep in... dishes already done...laundry neatly put away and lots of snuggles from their kiddos!

5 years ago today...
