A Day in the Life of a Dieter

Okay so to be honest, I didn't even last a day.

I had this great plan 4 months ago that I would lose 30 lbs. just in time for my step-sister's wedding.  Fast forward to one week until the wedding and I still have those 30 lbs. I sound like a broken record, right?

So my sister-in-law informed me of this great way to shed the lbs. quickly. Drum roll....wait for it.... the cabbage soup diet!  I vaguely remember this but never really gave it much thought.  It's obvious diets and I are arch enemies. I hate them. They hate me.

So I took a deep breath, bought the ingredients and whipped it up- all ready to tackle the diet plan this week.

Yup... I lasted until approximately 2:30 p.m. where you could have found me in the fetal position in my cubicle, my stomach making sounds I never knew it could make.  The diet failed me. I failed the diet. I promptly popped a bag of popcorn and tried to find my sanity.

I made it half a day.

So what's a girl to do with these extra 30 lbs.?  I'm trying a body wrap. If it's successful, I'll rave about it. And a word from me to the wedding cake: watch out, I'm coming for you!

To the zoo!

We took a family trip to the zoo yesterday with Reagan's Uncle Scotty, Aunt B and cousins, Buddy and Sissy.

The weather was perfect- cool, a little overcast, and getting there bright and early helped with the crowds.  The kids had so much fun exploring- we took a trip on the train, got to pet some 'aminals' as Rea would say, experienced the joys of face painting, and got a tattoo!

All in all, a very successful zoo trip!

Some pics:

Going in for a closer look:

"Silly daddy... that ostrich won't hurt you!"

Big girl! She sat very still and did a great job getting her face painted:

So happy to be at the zoo!

Her favorite animal- a snake. Go figure.

Another great zoo trip!

Heat Wave~ 2012

In case you didn't notice, it's hot.

My car leaving work today:

And did I mention our air conditioner stopped working?

So all I really wanted to do was sit around and eat cookie dough.  Like this little gem (So good Kelli!)

But...we were fortunate to get the air fixed.  So I put on my new gym shirt and headed to the gym:

And thus ends a Monday...

Road Trip~ Clear Lake

Rea's 'Aunt Nette' and her sissy, Kelli, invited Rea and I on a road trip to Clear Lake on Saturday to visit their family!  We jumped at the chance and found ourselves enjoying a great day in a town that was so much fun exploring!  With a warm welcome from Nette's parents and grandparents!

The day started with breakfast at 7's.  Side note: Me and small town diners go way back. I've never met a small town diner that I didn't like, or where I didn't eat my weight in bacon and those huge big fluffy pancakes loaded with butta and syrup. I digress...

So breakfast was a success and the best part was visiting with Nette and Kelli's Grandpa and Grandma!  Nette surprised Rea with a Super Hero cape and book at breakfast- Rea was ecstatic! And promptly showed off her cape to the diners around us.

We then headed downtown and met up with Nette's mom and dad!  They gave us a tour of the shops- Rea's favorite was a cheese shop with chocolate. Her 2 favorite food groups. Not sure who she inherited that from....   and then we headed to the beach!  The weather was overcast and not yet scorching so the beach was perfect!  Rea loved swimming and feeding the ducks.

After a fun day relaxing we hit the road for home.  A huge thank you to Nette's family for spending the day with us and for all of Rea's treats!  We had a great time and can't wait to visit again!

Some pics:

Waiting for breakfast....

Reagan's Super Hero cape!

Ta-da!

Kelli and Rea:

Let's hit the streets and do some good!

Put a cape on a toddler, give her a hula hoop and watch the crowd grow- we should have put out a tip jar.  Now I know how she can save for college.

So excited to be at the beach!

Feeding the ducks:

Loved the big boat!

Reaganism:

"You're the best mommy in the world!"  As said to me, by Rea, after a fun filled beach day.

*swoon* I love my toddler!

Annual Cousin Visit~2012

It just wouldn't be summer without a visit from peanut's cousins!

We look forward to this visit every year and it's fun to make plans for the kids with things we haven't done in the past.  However, our favorite activities remain the same every year: shopping and eating!

This year we toured Jordan Creek, got to eat at some yummy restaurants, checked out the bison and elk at Jester Park, had numerous tea parties, swam, played on the swing set, had fun in the sandbox and did a fair amount of back to school shopping!  It was a whirlwind and we can't wait to do it again next year!

As a testament to the fun, peanut just slept a solid 15 hours straight after her cousins said good-bye!

A few pics:

Girls with their gramma!

Who wants tea?

Snuggles!

Sandbox fun!

I love this pic- even though it's a tad out of focus, it summarizes the fun.  The girls making silly faces while Tyler tries to ignore them. :)

Weekends come... Weekends go...

One minute it's here, the next minute it's gone.

Friday night- Girls' night out! It had been awhile since I scheduled a night off from 'mommy duty.'  We hit up a movie, some fun bars and breakfast at a truck stop made me think of college days.

Saturday-We hit up play land at the mall since I refused to melt in the sun outside. I'm officially boycotting summer, FYI.

Sunday-  A relaxing family day!  We celebrated Gramma W's birthday with good eats and a delicious strawberry cake. Rea belted out her rendition of 'Happy Birthday' which may or may not have included some lyrics from 'Moves like Jagger.'  We love you, Alyce!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
