A tale from the WW wagon...
I rejoined Weight Watchers for the hundreth millioneth zillioneth time the week of Thanksgiving. Am I crazy? Yep.
I was dedicated and 10.4 pounds slowly (slowly) fell off. I still have a ways to go so I'm always assessing the situation and asking myself, what works? What doesn't? What is worth eating 100 WW points in a day? (A lot, let me tell you...)
The problem, my sweet tooth. If only I could isolate the one tooth that gets me into trouble, I could yank that tooth out and miraculously reach my WW lifetime goal. In the meantime, I'm trying to find WW friendly recipes that satisfy my sweet tooth.
So you can imagine my delight when my coworker told me about this amazing recipe she found on Pinterest. 3 ingredients and 35 minutes later... viola! A tasty dessert that leaves my sweet tooth satisfied.
You'll need:
1 package frozen fruit (I used mixed berry)
1 box of cake mix (I used white)
1 can diet 7Up
1 can light whipped topping (optional)
Empty contents of frozen fruit bag into 9x13 baking dish. Sprinkle with cake mix. Pour 7Up slowly over cake mix/fruit. Do not mix. Bake at 350 for about 35 minutes, or until brown. Top with whipped topping and enjoy!
And note to self: it's probably not WW friendly if I eat the entire dessert in 2 days. Just sayin...

The month of January hates me.
Something happened to make the month of January hate me.
Every January, like clockwork, we deal with sickness. And my toddler can't just have a little cold with a tiny little cough. Oh no- we need high fevers, toddler vomit, ear infections and strep throat! January is smirking at me right now.
Sunday:
Rea spikes a high fever, vomits twice, laundry and rocking deep into the night...
Monday:
Fever gone: it's all Popsicles, blanket picnics and smiles!
Tuesday:
Crossing fingers she's really on the mend?! (Trying to ignore the fact that peanut was up multiple times in the night)
Wednesday:
Pick up from daycare- spikes high fever at night. Spends the night coughing/crying, crying/coughing.
It's pitiful, really. My poor baby. Nothing worse than having your toddler say over and over again, 'Mommy I actually really don't feel good.'
Thursday:
Okay that's it. Doctor visit- tube fell out of ear, unbeknownst to us, resulting in ear infection, positive strep test and high fever even after meds! I give up. After 4 nights of NO sleep, I don't even remember driving to the doctor's office. I think it's safe to say we both cried and then got ice cream. Food always makes things better right?
And yep, we broke all the rules. Laying on the kitchen table playing on mommy's computer? You know it.
Friday:
After 2 days of antibiotics, peanut is still reeling from this. I hate seeing her this way. I know when she's not interested in OJ, quesadillas or fruit snacks, we have big issues. Thanks to Gramma W. for taking care of peanut while Andy and I dragged through our work days!
So that's it. I'm ready for normal back. I'm ready for February, even if it means turning another year older. *gulp*

Celebrating! (Staycation Style)
We celebrated my dear friend, Jen's, 40th birthday on Saturday night.
A few of us decided to get rooms at the new Prairie Meadows hotel and enjoy a little staycation after celebrating! The hotel was gorgeous and our rooms were so nice. And we had a blast celebrating with everyone!
Happy 40th Jen! May you have a year full of blessings and happiness!

Sunday Funday
It was too cold to play outside today so I packed up peanut and we headed to play land at the mall. She was shy at first, but then another toddler at play land complimented her Dora socks and she was off making new friends.
I couldn't persuade her that hot chocolate would be the better choice and we ended up at her favorite, Orange Leaf. She is as comfortable there as she is in her own home as, before I could stop her, making it appear that I don't teach my child manners, she whipped off her boots, lined them up, hung her coat on her chair and happily conquered her froyo.
Hope everyone had a fun Sunday!

Weekend Review
Another weekend come and gone... thankful to wake up and have a job on a Monday morning but miss my time with my family and friends from the weekend!
Friday night:
Family night! Rea found her blocks and spent an hour constructing/deconstructing...
Building daddy's 'big work building'
Saturday:
We did Christmas with Andy's Aunt Amy and Uncle Steve in the morning- just like her mama, Rea had to change immediately into her gift of new clothes! Thanks Aunt Amy and Uncle Steve!

Ringing in the new year!
We had fun ringing in the new year with Nette and Davy!
We had enough food to feed the Duggar family, delicious party punch (virgin punch for the little), good tunes, a fire going and lots of laughs!
As we reflect on 2012 and welcome 2013, we are so blessed for the family, friends and blessings we have in our lives. Hope everyone had a safe, fun new year's eve!
Party hats!
Rea's first nativity set- perfect gift from her Godparents!
Cheers!
