Christmas Traditions

Putting up the Christmas tree:

Decorating her own lil tree:

Visit from Elfie!
With a note from Santa asking Reagan to think of other kids at Christmas and to pick out a toy for a little girl who may not get any presents from her mommy and daddy. Elfie also surprised her with an ornament for her tree.

Disney on Ice! What a fun time we had this year...

Thanksgiving~ Part 2

We spent Thanksgiving day with Andy's side of the family. Of course we had to watch the parade first and Reagan was really into it this year. She loved seeing all the neat balloons.

We had a great day spent with family and I'm so thankful for all our blessings each and every day.

These 3. Love them...reading a Thanksgiving story.

Hope everyone had a wonderful turkey day!

Thanksgiving~ Part 1

We headed north this weekend to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. Always fun to see everyone and enjoy wonderful food and great company.  Reagan was a little disappointed this year since her cousins were sick and couldn't join us but we still managed lots of laughs and she was able to get in some snuggle time with G&G.

My mom spoiled us with a new recipe this year- brown sugar, marshmallows butter and popcorn. What's not to love?!

We also played a new game this year, Head's Up. It's by Ellen DeGeneres so you know it has to be hilarious fun.  I loved playing it except for watching the video afterwards. Funny but not a fan seeing myself in game playing action- ha!

Sunday Funday

Reagan was so excited to wake up to snow this morning...she was begging to go outside before we even had breakfast. The sun was deceiving because it was COLD out so we made the most of 15 minutes.

Our first gingerbread house project of the 2014 holiday season- Hello Kitty!

A great way for Rea to practice making patterns...

Mouthful of frosting...

Happy Sunday!

Weekly Update

Andy was on single-parent duty this week as I traveled across the country for a business trip. It's always so hard to leave my babies but thankfully the week flew by and I was home just in time to pick up Reagan from school. And to see the first snowflakes of the season...brrr!

Reagan had fun making a turkey at daycare.  She was very proud of doing the craft, 'all by myself without any help!'

I was able to catch up with my Aunt and Uncle whom I haven't seen in years (since they live clear across the country, which just happened to be where I traveled to!).  It was great to see them and we had a nice visit.

Her first award- Reagan won a red ribbon during Red Ribbon Week at school for her drawing of how she could help in the classroom.  She thought of the idea and drew the picture all by herself.  I love how school has given her the confidence she needed for projects like this- crafts, coloring, using scissors. We are so proud of her!

Reagan also received her monthly shipment of 'Lil Passports.'  This month was Egypt. We found it on the map and read the story of the great pyramids.  The activity this month was a pyramid dig so she had lots of fun chipping away for the treasure.  And by chipping away I mean dropping it on the garage floor to get it to break. Wow that sucker was tough!

Her prize, a little gold mummy. "Mommy, is it REAL gold??"

And finally....in anticipation of the snowstorm that is on its way... we are making cookies and hunkering down where it's warm. I see cozy blankets with the fireplace on and hot chocolate in our future.

Hope everyone had a great week!

Hello November

How is it possible there are only 1 1/2 months left until the end of 2014? I feel like I say it every year, but this year has gone so fast!

We welcomed November with a trip north to celebrate my niece's first birthday. A fun day spent with family!

We enjoyed a fun night at Reagan's school this past week when the PTO sponsored a 'Mad Scientist.' He was great with the kids and had lots of booms, fizz's and crazy science stuff to keep Rea and her friends entertained.

Andy and I enjoyed a fun date night with friends while Rea had her first birthday sleepover with her cousin.  We finally got to try the much coveted hot spot, Malo. It did not disappoint.  Best carnitas in the city!

I was able to sneak away yesterday for my annual girls day out with my besties at the HyVee Food and Wine expo.  More food vendors this year, which was great!  I got to sample all my favorites- Scratch, Louie's, Rube's, Gateway, and bonus!  Discovered a fabulous red wine.  A great afternoon with my girls!

And we end the week with our morning spent in pj's working on preschool homework.  I love it because I can actually help!  Once first grade math starts, I'm out.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
