Toddler Quotes
I always forget the hilarious things my toddler says. A few I've remembered...
The setting: in the car listening to Christmas music
Rea: 'Mommy, you sing! I can't because I'm the audience.'
*******
The setting: bathroom
Me: 'Honey you need to leave so mommy can use the bathroom.'
Rea: 'No mommy I can't. I need my privacy with you.'
*******
The setting: bathroom (literally Rea's 5th attempt at delaying bedtime)
Me: 'Honey you really need to hurry up so you can get back into bed.'
Rea: 'Mommy you really need to focus and go to work.'
*******
And because I can't do a post without a picture, I give you:

Disney on Ice
As one of Rea's Christmas presents this year, I decided to take her on a mommy/daughter afternoon date to go see Disney on Ice. She loved it! I can see why families make this an annual tradition. It was a great show and Rea was enamored through the whole thing.
Definitely on our to-do list for next year as well!
So excited to see Mickey:
During the Nemo/shark scene, I looked over and she was very intent. After that part, she snuggled in my lap for the rest of the show.
Beautiful stage:

Thanksgiving 2012~ Part 2
We spent Thanksgiving this year with Andy's side of the family. It was a fun treat to only have to travel a couple blocks to get to their house since this was their first Thanksgiving in their new house!
We had a great day with wonderful food and fellowship. We were able to catch up with Andy's Aunt and Uncle whom we don't get to see too often. Rea loved playing with her cousins all day (and skipping nap time!).
We were definitely feeling blessed and hope everyone had a relaxing turkey day!
Mama and Rea- note Rea's cookie crumb face and it was before lunch...only at Gramma's!
Coloring with sissy~
Hanging with Aunt Amy~
Making shrinky dinks with Uncle Scotty, Aunt B and Sissy~
Reading her new book to her new elf (Thanks G&G W.- let's hope it works!)~
Playing with her cousin's Leap Frog. I think next year will be her year for Santa to bring a technical gadget. *sigh*

Happy Thanksgiving!
Today and everyday, we thank God for the blessings He has bestowed upon us.
Amazing family and friends, a roof over our heads, money to pay the bills and put food on our table, our health, and so much more. We think of those sharing loss and heartache today and we keep them in our prayers.
May everyone have a joyous Thanksgiving holiday! xo

Sick
So after that lovely post about our great Thanksgiving celebration (see below)... Rea got the flu.
Oh how I miss baby spit up.
Oh how I despise toddler throw up.
It's 1 a.m. and I am jolted out of bed by Andy saying, "She's throwing up!" And seriously, what kind of mom am I that I don't even wake up to the sound of my toddler getting sick over the monitor? (To my credit, it does sound like she's only coughing)
So round one was at 1:00 a.m. Bath, laundry and the neighbors seeing every light on in our house at 1:00 a.m. and wondering if we decided to have a party. Not quite.
So round two was at 3:00 a.m. and by this time peanut knows the drill and after getting sick, in her sweet toddler voice, happily exclaims- 'Mommy I didn't get any in my hair!' Perfect honey. :)
So our plans to see Santa and go to dance class today were thwarted but on a high note, peanut is sipping juice and snuggled in watching cartoons. And I apologize if you were eating during this post.

Thanksgiving 2012~ Part 1
We headed north this weekend to celebrate thanksgiving with my side of the family. Peanut got in lots of lovin and we had so much fun doing what we do best- eating, drinking and playing games!
So excited to see Gramma!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Helping Gramma in the kitchen:
The weather was perfect so we snuck in a quick walk and trip to the park before lunch:
Loves her cousins!
Hope everyone had a great weekend! xo

Toddler bites
You know what really gives me warm fuzzies? A big honeycrisp apple with teeny tiny toddler bites all over it. Seriously- took her 2 hours to eat the apple but she loved every minute of it.

3 year well child check-up
Last week we had Rea's 3 year well child appointment. I'm happy (and thankful!) to report that all is great!
She finally hit the 30 lb. mark and is 3 feet 1 inch in length. Of course, she had many 'stories' for the nurse and the Dr. to which the Dr. looked at me and said, "So... no concerns with talking, right?"
I told him our only concern was that she was 3 going on 13. He has three daughters, he can relate. Just this morning she told me, "Mommy, I really need a tablet. To do my work." Okay yeah let me run right out and get you an Ipad. :) Honestly, it'll probably be on her Christmas list for next year. I have to come to terms with the fact that she is not growing up in the 80's. Times, they have changed.
We did the crib to toddler bed transition on her actual birthday. After a couple weeks, she is only getting up one, okay maybe three times, before settling in for the night. She loves her new found freedom, evidently.
We've transitioned her to a regular cup at meals, no more sippys. All these little changes make me sad to leave behind her baby years but I do love her transition to toddler hood, where she can follow commands like putting on her own coat and shoes and going potty by herself to which she loves to tell us- "Mommy, I need privacy."
I just keep telling myself my goal is to raise her to be a self assured, confident, kind and caring adult, who can make successful decisions on her own. But it's still hard not to cut up her hot dogs into teeny tiny pieces. You know, just to be safe.
At the bank, opening her own savings account!

Friday Night Fun
Peanut had a sleepover with her cousins Friday night.
Andy and I braved the crowds and took all three kids to see Wreck It Ralph. Very cute movie! And the kids were on their best behavior. Rea had so much fun hosting the overnighter!
2 peas in a chair:
Goofing around:
Rea was so excited to lay out her new sleeping bag:
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
