A few months ago, I realized (when the soft fleshy bottom part of my foot met the hard plastic heel of one of Rea's dress up shoes) that her hobby of dressing up was becoming a favorite past time for her (and strewn about her bedroom floor). She had the dress up clothes, shoes, and jewelry- but no where to put everything! That's where 'Super (crafty and artsy) Grandparents' come in!
My mom came last weekend and delivered a beautiful armoire crafted by my step-dad and hand painted by my mama. They make a good team, don't they?
We did a little rearranging in peanut's room and Viola! A new closet for her dress up clothes, complete with a mirror for viewing and little cubbies for her shoes and jewelry. My feet are thankful they won't have to step on any more hard plastic heels.
She loves it! And so do I... thanks Grandpa and Grandma K.! xo

It happened right before my very eyes.
For real.
No denying it.
Reagan turned 2 and a 1/2. Six more months and she'll be 3?! How did that happen?!
I've been preparing myself for this moment- when babyhood turns into full blown toddler hood. But one can never fully prepare, can they?
The other night, Rea asked to 'sit in a big person chair' followed with a 'please mommy?' How could I say no? So away went the booster seat and she's been flying solo ever since. See below. She is looking mighty grown-up isn't she?
I keep meaning to log funny stories and crazy toddler quotes and those witty little comments she likes to throw out to see if it'll get a laugh from us... but there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day!
Funny stories:
Rea eating green beans at dinner. She popped out the smaller bean inside the green bean and exclaimed, "That little bean was trapped! And I freed it!"
Heading to the mall, she realized we weren't heading home.. "Mommy," she asks, "Where are we going?" "To the mall," I say, "mommy needs to return some clothes." "But mommy," Rea exclaims perplexed, "then you'll be naked!" *insert toddler giggles here because she said the word naked*
Not so funny stories:
Rea being disciplined for something. She states, "It's not your business. I'm the boss." Oooohhh.. really. Do I really have to break out the "while you live under my roof" song and dance when she's only 2?! :)
Rea loves reading, books, any type of jewelry/playing dress up, putting on lipstick (chapstick), nightgown's instead of PJ's, fruit snacks, cuties, pretzels, quiche and of course, apple juice. She loves to show her independence and doesn't even want my hand any more while going down stairs. "Mommy, no thank you. I can do it." Her favorite shows are Team UmiZoomi and the Bubble Guppies and the Planet Earth specials. She loves anything water related and this goes without saying, LOVES spending time with her family and friends. Always wants to be on the go!
Rea's dislikes include bedtime (always way too early in her opinion), getting her hair washed in the tub (any tricks for this?) and carrots (ironic since this was her favorite veggie as a toddler).
Some facts: She has mastered her colors, can count to 12, knows some basic shapes, loves to play 'match' games and does very well at matching, can recognize easy patterns, can recite my phone number and knows the city/state that she lives in.
A few recent pics:
Loves her Leap Frog!
Shades!
Giggles!
Let's have a snack!
All snuggled in!
Library books!
Toddler bump it!
We are deep in the throes of 3rd birthday party plans... here's a sneak peek:
Howdy partner!
Can someone say pony rides?
We are so thankful that we have peanut in our lives, bringing us new discoveries and grateful blessings every single day. Happy 2 and a 1/2 baby girl! xoxo

Where did the weekend go?!
Oh where oh where did my weekend go? Oh where oh where could it be? (sung to the tune of 'Oh Where Oh Where has my little dog gone?')
Friday night:
The mood is FUN! The weekend has just begun and the next 2 and a 1/2 days are promising... making memories with family and friends!
Jen, Jacque and I loaded up the kids and headed to the mall. Rea LOVED the play land- bossing around the big kids while I'm on the sidelines, really trying to reiterate the concept of sharing. And no, not every castle is your own castle. You must SHARE and be kind. A hard concept for a 2 year old, I know. But teachable moments, right?
We worked up an appetite and headed to Orange Leaf. Yup- pretty much loved it and ate my weight in Fro Yo. At 9:30 p.m. What were we thinking? The sugar rush hit the kids and they were singing and laughing all the way home....
Saturday:
The weekend is still so new... thoughts of laundry and errands and making food for the week are in the distant future.
I spent the morning working out, and then after family nap time (one of the best feelings on earth) my friend Jenny and I headed to The Lucky One. Great chick flick that didn't disappoint.
After the movie, we met up with Annette and Kelli for this amazing new martini called the Fruit Loop. Tastes just like a bowl of fruit loops but with an adult kick. *I die* Loved hanging with my girls and doing a little impromptu dancing...
Sunday:
Oh Sunday... the morning I wake up in a panic remembering the 5 loads of laundry that need to be done, errands that need to be run, food that needs to be made for the week.
Sundays are my dose of reality... and after a quick trip to the gym, we headed over to Andy's parents for Sunday supper. A new tradition of sorts that I am loving! The best way to end a great weekend, hanging out with family and trying to forget that a new work day is a mere night's sleep away.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I broke one of the cardinal rules of parenting.
Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER inform a toddler of a REALLY SUPER DUPER fun thing that you are going to do with them until the MINUTE you do it. For reals, yo.
So.... peanut's 3rd birthday gift from us is going to be attending a concert of the Fresh Beat Band. Whom she adores..."Mommy! The Fresh Beat Band lives on a stage!"
When is the concert, you ask? October. Many many months away... and tonight, when a commercial came on, I exclaimed, "Peanut look! We're going to go see them for your birthday!"
Reagan thought her birthday was tonight, naturally. And that we were going to see the Fresh Beat Band tonight, naturally. And now... every single night, from now until October, she will ask, "Mommy! Can we go see the Fresh Beat Band today?!" And she will be devastated when I say, "Not yet honey."
Parenting mishap number 45, 679... and counting....

Superhero Sunday
Reagan has a new alter ego that she dubbed, 'pink superhero.'
All on her own, her pink superhero costume includes not one but two crowns, purple high heels, as many necklaces and bracelets as she can find and a magic wand. Oh and a nightgown helps too.
Me to Rea: "Oh you look so pretty!"
Rea to me: "Thanks mommy! I'm a pink superhero!"
Me to Rea: "Oh... I like it. And what do superhero's do?"
Rea to me: "They help people mommy. It's importantant."

Easter 2012
We hosted Easter this year...and in preparation for hosting, my husband actually said he was proud of me. Why, you may ask? Because I cleaned. *insert shriek here*
It's a well-known fact that I detest spending my time cleaning...but we spent the entire day on Saturday shaking the house down- and it felt good!
Sunday turned out to be one of those days when you think back and talk about the weather, the company, the food, the kiddos... it was a sunny 70 degrees... we had family and friends over...we had a kitchen filled to the brim with amazing food... good drinks and kiddos that kept us laughing!
Here are a few pics from the day~ hope everyone had a great Easter holiday!
The Easter bunny came!
Sunglasses and lipstick~ what more could a girl want!
The kiddos...
Family shot:
Easter egg hunt... thanks Aunt Nette & Aunt Kelli!
All that egg hunting makes a girl hungry...
We are so blessed and thankful for all that He has given us... God bless! xo
